Millerton is an attractive Village Community within 2 hours of NY City. So many intersting stores with a good variety of interests.
Well known "Oblong Book Store", Harney Tea Headquarters, Irving Farm cafe as well as Roasting facility. Great Old fashioned Diner with outside dining. Well established Millerton Inn for dining as well as overnight stays. Not to mention the focus of Millerton from its very early days " The Millerton Railroad Stations" The original Railroad ( first of its kind in area) was begun in 1851. Steed Real Estate has owned the Central focus of the Railroad Plaza ( Millerton Rail Road Station found on the State as well as "National Historic Register" for over 44 years ( currently under renovation and restoration. Very exciting to its current owners.
Movie house with a long tradition of first run Movies for your enjoyment.
The Harlem Valley Rail Trail- formally part of the Harlem Valley Railroad ( NY Central RR) 47 miles of track from Wassaic to Chatham in Columbia County. after its sale by Steed Real Estate on behalf of "The Trustees In Bankruptcy of Penn Central) in 1985 to James Metz a local Real Estate Developer. After a legal battle by NY State to overturn the sale. Mr Metz won the Lawsuit and eventually sold the property to NY State which in time began to morph into what is now the "Harlem Valley Rail Trail"
Currently the trail is completed in stages running from the Hamlet of Wassaic to Copake Falls about 23 miles. In time the entire 47 miles will be open to public.
